President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that funding for the development of 50 housing units in AA. Bodufolhudhoo will be included in the 2026 national budget, with construction set to begin within the same year.

The President made the announcement today while addressing residents of AA. Bodufolhudhoo, as part of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands in North Ari Atoll.

He stated that the project is expected to be commissioned early next year. Highlighting the scale of the housing challenges faced by the island, he emphasised that the project’s completion would provide a significant and lasting solution to the problem.

During the ceremony, an agreement was signed for the construction of a classroom and a multipurpose hall at Bodufolhudhoo School. The President noted that his Administration would accord the highest priority to ensure the provision of essential facilities for the school, and assured that construction would commence within three months at the latest.

The President also announced that construction of a handball field in Bodufolhudhoo would begin imminently. He added that the installation of lighting at the island’s football ground, along with the activation of the Fitness and Recreation Centre, would ensure the project is completed on schedule in close coordination with the contractor.

He further stated that the transfer of four hectares of land already acquired on the island would be finalised by the end of next year, with all necessary work carried out in line with the island’s coastal protection measures.

Concluding his address, the President assured residents that development initiatives for Bodufolhudhoo would move forward at pace, delivering tangible benefits for the local community.
