The President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Anura Kumara Disanayaka, held official talks today as part of the Sri Lankan President’s state visit to the Maldives.
The discussions, which were led by President Dr Muizzu and President Disanayaka, took place at the President’s Office.
During the talks, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the close diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries, which have spanned six decades. He also emphasised the strong people-to-people ties and acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Sri Lankan workforce to the Maldives’ development.
The official talks concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas, including capacity building and education, climate action, fisheries and agriculture, and food security, as well as maritime safety, air connectivity, youth development, and sports.
