His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, today witnessed the exchange of several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements between the Maldives and India across a range of important sectors.
The MoUs and agreements exchanged today include:
1. Launch of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement.
2. Umbrella Line of Credit Agreement (USD 565 million - INR equivalent) between the Government of the Maldives and the Export-Import Bank of India.
3. First Amendatory Dollar Credit Line Agreement between the Government of the Maldives and the Export-Import Bank of India.
4. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of the Republic of India on cooperation in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.
5. Memorandum of Understanding on Pharmacopoeia Cooperation between the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Republic of India, and the Maldives Food and Drug Authority, and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Maldives.
6. Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Republic of India and Maldives Meteorological Services, Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Republic of Maldives on cooperation in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, climate sciences, and environmental monitoring.
7. Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India on cooperation in sharing successful digital solutions implemented at scale for digital transformation.
8. Agreement between the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) on network-to-network cross-border remittance.
The ceremony was held at the President's Office as part of Prime Minister Modi’s ongoing state visit to the Maldives.
