President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to fostering gender balance and creating an inclusive environment within Parliament, noting that the underrepresentation of women in legislatures remains a pressing issue both globally and nationally.
In a post on his official X account, the President underscored the importance of recognising the vital role of parliaments in upholding democracy and promoting good governance. In his message for the day, he also reminded the profound responsibility entrusted to parliaments to ensure transparency, shape effective policies, and above all, serve the people with vigilance and integrity.
Concluding his message, the President called for a renewed commitment to upholding the principles that strengthen parliaments and ensure they serve the people with purpose and integrity.
