The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Maldives, His Excellency Dr Alireza Delkhosh, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.

The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession, “Haiykolhu,” accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

Following the presentation of credentials, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on enhancing bilateral relations based on mutual understanding and the strong brotherly bond between the two countries. Both leaders showed a keen interest in advancing economic cooperation, the exchange of technical expertise, and people-to-people connections in the future.

The President expressed the Maldives' readiness to offer support on international platforms in de-escalating the ongoing unrest in the Middle East and to advocate for peace in the region. The Ambassador, in turn, conveyed his appreciation for President Dr Muizzu’s principled position and extended gratitude on behalf of the Iranian leadership.

The President had earlier condemned Israel’s attack on Iran via his official X account, emphasising that the aggression constituted a grave violation of international law.
