The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Maldives, His Excellency Adel Ibrahim, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession, “Haiykolhu," accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
Following the presentation of credentials, the President and the Ambassador discussed mutual interests, including enhancing higher education and economic cooperation, as well as strengthening collaboration in the healthcare field.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Egypt were established on February 12, 1969.
