The President’s Office, in partnership with the British High Commission in Maldives (BHC), has successfully concluded a 2-day national security tabletop exercise “Amaan Asseyri 2025” which brought together key national institutions and tested the National Terrorism Response Plan (NTRP).
This two-day exercise was a vital component in strengthening national preparedness and inter-agency coordination in response to potential terrorism-related emergencies with the objective to assess and understand national response capabilities and decision-making mechanisms.
Under the leadership of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Government of Maldives places strong emphasis on safety and security of the people, and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and independence. "Amaan Asseyri 2025" along with the NTRP sought to operationalise this priority, with the goal to enhance the Government’s approach to national security threats.
The exercise witnessed the active participation of senior policymakers and representatives from eleven key ministries and agencies. Ministers and high-level officials engaged in strategic discussions, ensuring the exercise delivered meaningful insights and actionable outcomes.
Exercise “Amaan Asseyri 2025”, hosted at Crossroads Maldives from May 26-27, 2025, was facilitated by the British High Commission in the Maldives and is a significant milestone in Maldives-UK security cooperation. The partnership demonstrates the shared commitment to building a safer, more resilient Maldives through structured delivery of expertise and assistance.
