President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the closing ceremony of the ‘Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation Summit’, held at Barceló Nasandhura Malé.

‘Maldives 2.0’ is a key initiative under the President’s strategic vision, aimed at driving digital and modernised transformation across all sectors and institutions in the country. The programme seeks to introduce smart digital reforms and innovations that streamline public services, ensuring both convenience and transparency. Over the next three years, the project aims to establish a digitally connected future for the Maldives by integrating accessible technology across the islands and raising service standards.

The three-day summit brought together relevant authorities and stakeholders for in-depth discussions on strengthening cybersecurity; enabling secure digital transactions through internationally standardised digital IDs; establishing a data exchange layer to facilitate timely and secure information sharing between state institutions. The summit also explored the development a sovereign cloud for the safe storage and archiving of sensitive Government data; delivering citizen-centric services through digital platforms; nurturing a tech-savvy generation; and expanding opportunities for Maldivians and local businesses in the ICT sector.

The event concluded with a presentation of the summit’s key outcomes, followed by the formal presentation of the ‘Ceremonial Conferral of the National Digital Commitment to the President’ by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, to President Dr Muizzu.

This honour was conferred in the presence of Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker of the People’s Majlis Hon Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Chief Justice of the Maldives Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, as well as speakers, moderators, and panellists from various summit sessions, alongside senior officials from the Estonian government and members of the ICT Committee.

Also in attendance at the event were Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials, and dignitaries including Estonian government representatives.
