President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his official visit to Malaysia, undertaken at the invitation of Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. The visit highlighted the strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Malaysia.

The President received a ceremonial welcome in Putrajaya, followed by high-level discussions at Putra Perdana. Talks between the two leaders led to significant outcomes, including the signing of memoranda of understanding and an exchange of notes, reaffirmed during a joint press conference where the two leaders asserted their commitment to bolstering ties between the two countries.

President Dr Muizzu invited Malaysian investors to explore emerging opportunities in the Maldives during his address the Maldives–Malaysia Business Forum 2025, also attended by the Malaysian Prime Minister.

He also met with Maldivians residing in Malaysia, officially launched Maldivian ID Card and e-Passport services, and inaugurated the Maldivian Students Association Malaysia.

During a special convocation, the President was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Islamic Leadership and Madani Development by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

He also visited the Maldives High Commission in Malaysia, commending the staff for their service and urging continued support for the Maldivian community abroad.

President Dr Muizzu was accompanied on this trip by delegation of Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials. The President is scheduled to return to Malé this morning.
