President Dr Mohamed Muizzu urged the people to view this Ramadan as a golden opportunity to align their actions, take pride in their Muslim identity, and resolve disputes between families and loved ones. He made the remarks while speaking at a function at Republic Square this evening after the redevelopment and inauguration of Izzuddin Jetty.
The President reiterated his commitment to prioritising both the nation and religion while setting aside differences of opinion. He stated that progress cannot be achieved by remaining on the sidelines and that moving forward is a principle that Islam encourages.
The President stressed the importance of forgiveness, rebuilding friendships, purifying one’s heart, and protecting fellow Muslims from harm. He highlighted that these values are exemplified in the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and that without them, one’s faith remains incomplete.
The President urged the people to embrace self-improvement during the holy month of Ramadan and seek the blessings of Allah Almighty. He stated that this would enrich and strengthen the entire community.
