President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Thakandhoo Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of institutions to discuss matters needed for the island's development.
The meeting was held at Madhrasathul Shaheed Ali Thakurufaanu.
During the meeting, the Thakandhoo Council highlighted the need for Government assistance in protecting historical sites, expediting basic services including water and sewerage infrastructure, addressing urgent coastal erosion issues, and completing the harbour project to resolve transportation difficulties. The Council also requested the inclusion of an island within their jurisdiction to generate income and raised concerns about housing issues.
The President affirmed that his Administration would work to fulfil his pledges and address the needs highlighted by the Council. The accompanying Ministers and heads of Government institutions provided updates on the progress of ongoing development projects in Thakandhoo.
