His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu participated in a roundtable discussion with the Estonian Digital Advisory Council to the President of Estonia. The Maldivian delegation, accompanied by representatives from the tech community, explored Estonia’s remarkable journey in digital transformation.

President Dr Muizzu shared his Administration’s vision for a digital Maldives, emphasizing accessibility, sustainability, and resilience. He highlighted the goal of creating a Government that is digital-first and citizen-focused, empowering every Maldivian through technology, regardless of their location.

President Dr Alar Karis underscored Estonia’s success in achieving transformative digital advancements and encouraged collaboration with the Maldives to foster innovation. He emphasised the value of working together to create a more advanced and sustainable future through shared expertise and innovative solutions.

Members of the Estonian Digital Advisory Council highlighted the critical role of private sector involvement in building infrastructure and advancing key areas of digital development. They also stressed the importance of promoting STEM education and logical thinking from an early age to drive innovation.

The council expressed a willingness to assist the Maldives by sharing their expertise, redesigning services, and offering guidance to support the country’s digital transformation journey.

Discussions focused on understanding the Maldives’ current situation and identifying features and strategies that could be adapted for the country’s digital development.

The meeting was held at the PoCo Pop And Contemporary Art Museum in Tallinn. Following the meeting, President Dr Muizzu toured the museum, and the Estonian IT visionary Mr Linnar Viik provided a detailed briefing on the museum’s collection and artwork.
