President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed the Administration’s commitment to comprehending and addressing the challenges faced by fishermen. He emphasised the Administration’s dedication to meeting their needs and supporting their aspirations. The President made these remarks during his visit to Devvadhoo Island, part of his tour of several islands in Huvadhoo Atoll.

Emphasising that the fisheries sector is one of the least vulnerable to external disruptions among the country’s economic activities, the President added that it could become the largest contributor to the nation’s GDP with concerted effort. The President described the fisheries industry as a key driver of wealth creation, firmly in the hands of the local populace.
