President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that development projects planned for Gaafaru will proceed next year. The President made these remarks whilst speaking at a meeting with Gaafaru residents during his ongoing tour of Malé Atoll islands.

In his speech, the President acknowledged that development projects in Gaafaru had not progressed at his desired pace during the past year; however, he stated that the development projects he promised for Gaafaru would commence under the budget allocated for the coming year.

Speaking about Gaafaru's harbour and its need for expansion and repairs, the President revealed that he had tasked the Council and Ministry with developing an expanded design to address both medium and long-term development needs. Once finalised, he confirmed the project would be incorporated into the PSIP (Public Sector Investment Programme) and begin without delay.

The President announced that improvements to the Gaafaru Health Centre and expanded school capacity would be implemented next year under new PSIP policy initiatives. Addressing concerns about the local ice plant, he explained that while its capacity would eventually be doubled as promised, the immediate priority would be establishing facilities in communities currently lacking such infrastructure; however, he reassured residents that the pledge to enhance Gaafaru's existing ice plant remained firm.

The President also assured residents that he would carefully attend to various other projects in different sectors, including sports and waste management, without neglecting any aspect of development.
