President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Administration would bring in lasting solutions to the issues raised by the members of the K Gaafaru Island Council and Women’s Development Committee. He made this statement at the meeting held Monday morning on his tour of the island.

During the meeting, members of the K Gaafaru Island Council and Women’s Development Committee had shared pressing issues facing the island with the President. As such, they noted the urgent necessity of a functional health centre and the lack of land lease for residential purposes for the past 18 years, appealing the President to incorporate a land reclamation initiative for the island. They further noted that issue of space in the island’s school as well as issues facing the fishermen of the island.

The Women’s Development Committee raised the issue of budgetary constraints and the delays in finishing the handball court.

The Cabinet Ministers accompanying the President shared the latest updates on development projects in Gaafaru island at the meeting.

Addressing the concerns shared, the President assured that the Administration would seek to fulfill the pledges, adding that in the coming year, special emphasis will be given to education and health sector projects. He also said that priority will be given to ensure that developmental projects of the island will be carried out without any halts.
