Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef emphasised that preserving national identity is vital for the Maldives to endure as a free and civilised nation for generations to come. He made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration of the “Kalhuohfunmi-Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Dharubaaru” held this morning.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President highlighted "Kalhuohfunmi-Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Dharubaaru" as a significant and innovative initiative to protect and promote awareness of the patriotism and self-determination of Maldivians. He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a platform for discussions on key aspects of Maldivian nationhood and identity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President stated that the locals are fortunate, noting that the story of the country's natural beauty has gained worldwide recognition.
The Vice President emphasised the importance of raising global awareness about the Maldives' language and the language of national identity. He also urged actively demonstrating the security, hospitality, and virtues of the Maldivians to tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President highlighted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has prioritised the protection of the sovereignty and national identity of the Maldivian people. He noted the President's special focus on the national flag and anthem. The Vice President then urged all Maldivians to support the President’s efforts to establish a nationhood college, foster the spirit of national identity, and elevate national issues to the highest level.
The conference serves as a platform to reflect on the unity and survival of the Maldivians. It also celebrates the collaboration among experts and participants in the nation's languages. The objectives of the conference are to promote the academic interpretation of the characteristics of Maldivians, publicise related activities, and encourage the development of ideas and knowledge that will support Maldivian citizenship, settlement, and maritime governance.
