The President of the Maldives and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and First Lady Madam Sajida Mohamed observed the military display activities conducted by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at the Republic Square to mark the Maldives Victory Day.
Upon their arrival at the Republic Square this evening, the President and First Lady were received by Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon and Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy.
The ceremony began with the Maldives military presenting a military salute to President Dr Muizzu, followed by a video presentation showcasing the military's past and present conditions.
The main military display then commenced, featuring demonstrations of MNDF Special Boat Squadron operations, an underwater demolition video of the Special Boat Squadron, Special Forces activities, rappelling operations, and field counter-attack maneuvers. The display also showcased Air Force, Maritime, and Land Force capabilities.
Following the Military Band's performance, graduates from the Special Boat Squadron and Special Forces courses were presented with their berets by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Dr Muizzu.
The ceremony continued with the inauguration of the Special Boat Squadron and the taking of oath by both the Special Boat Squadron and Special Forces members. Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas administered the oath.
The military display activities concluded with a group photo, where President Dr Muizzu was joined by the Defence Minister and senior military officers.
