The President’s Office has informed that it is working on constituting the Judicial Service Commission stated in Article 157 of the Constitution, before 26 July.

Article 37 of the Judicial Service Commission Act states that members for the Judicial Service Commission should be appointed within sixty days of the first sitting of the first People’s Majlis elected under the current Constitution.

The President’s Office has also requested concerned offices to hold elections on areas stated in Article 158 of the Constitution, and send names of the elected members before 9 July.

Soon after the re-constitution of the Judicial Service Commission, the President’s Office will start work on proposing names of judges for the Supreme Court after consulting with the newly constituted Judicial Service Commission.

All other Judges would be appointed by the Judicial Service Commission.
