President Nasheed has met with Mr Johan Schaar, Director at the Swedish Commission on Climate Change and Development. The meeting was held yesterday evening at Stockholm’s Grand Hotel.
Mr Schaar commended the President for his efforts to promote and protect human rights in the Maldives. He also noted the initiation of the President to increase awareness on the negative impact of human action on the environment.
Speaking at the meeting, President Nasheed said that people of the Maldives now have a broader outlook on political and other matters. He further stressed that a key means for the equal distribution of aid from friendly nations was through the survival of the democratic Maldives.
Separately, the President also gave interviews to Aftonbladet, and to the Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå (TT). Aftonbladet is one of the biggest Swedish dailies while TT is one of the largest news agencies in Scandinavia.
