President His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu returned to the Maldives this morning, concluding his landmark visit to the United States for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During his visit, President Dr Muizzu delivered a powerful statement at the General Debate of UNGA 79, the high-level meeting of world leaders. He also addressed the UN Security Council, becoming the first Maldivian Head of State to do so since the nation joined the UN 59 years ago.
Throughout his trip, the President gave several speeches on crucial topics and played a leading role in co-chairing numerous significant side events during UNGA 79. He also held bilateral discussions with heads of various delegations and took time to meet with the Maldivian community in New York.
Before concluding his trip, the President delivered a speech at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs and visited Google's main office in New York.
The President left for New York on 20 September to attend the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
This visit marked the President's first participation in the UN General Assembly as Head of State. Notably, it coincided with the 59th anniversary of the Maldives' UN membership. A high-level government delegation accompanied the President during this trip.
