Ambassador of Cambodia to the Maldives, His Excellency Koy Kuong, presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President's Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession, "Haiykolhu", with the Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as Ambassador of Cambodia to the Maldives. Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed strengthening cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade, education and agriculture. At the meeting, the Ambassador and the President discussed implementation of agreements signed during the Cambodian Prime Minister's visit to the Maldives in January of last year.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Cambodia were established on September 21, 1995.
The Ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in New Delhi, India. This is the first Cambodian Ambassador accredited to the Maldives.
