Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Maldives, His Excellency Leo Tito L. Ausan, Jr., presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted to the President's Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession called "Haiykolhu" with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as the Ambassador of the Philippines to the Maldives.
Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed enhancing cooperation, including in areas of trade , economy and tourism.
Diplomatic relations between Maldives and Philippines was established on 12th July 1974.
Ambassador of Philippines is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
