Ambassador of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to the Maldives, His Excellency Bashu Dev Mishra presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.

The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed the Ambassador of Nepal to the Maldives.

Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed enhancing relations between the two countries, especially taking note the large population of Nepali workers in the Maldives. The President thanked the Nepalese government for its continuous assistance for the human resource development of Maldives, particularly in the health sector, and expressed hope to expand it further.

Diplomatic relations between Maldives and Nepal was established on 1st August 1980.

Ambassador of Nepal is accredited to the Maldives as the non-resident Ambassador and resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
