President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Guraidhoo Island Council members and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) at the Secretariat of the Guraidhoo Island Council to address their challenges and the community's most critical developmental needs.
Council members highlighted the necessity for land reclamation to fulfill residents' needs and emphasized the challenges stemming from previous reclamation methods. They also conveyed the need to implement single-session schooling, redevelop the sewerage network, construct a new building for police, and resolve the concerns relating to the island's harbour. Further, members voiced the need to upgrade the island's health centre to a hospital with the completion of the new building.
Speaking at the meeting, the WDC members emphasised their interest in seeking extra income sources for the committee.
At the meeting, the President conveyed the details of the land reclamation project to the Council and discussed solutions to the issues raised by the Council regarding the project. The Ministers in attendance also offered the latest updates on the Government's efforts to resolve the issues raised by the Council.
