President Nasheed has reiterated his efforts to establish good governance system in the Maldives. The President made this statement this afternoon while speaking with the people of Thulhaadhoo of South Maalhosmadulu atoll.

Noting that nothing good would ever come out of a vengeful act, the President urged the people to trust him. He further, assured the people that his administration would be free of abuse and corruption, and would give due regard for the rule of law.

Stressing that he would not tolerate corruption, the President said that it was the government’s responsibility to take necessary action on the Auditor General’s reports.

Speaking with the people of Thulhaadhoo, the President briefed them on the developmental projects planned for the island. The President also highlighted the importance of long term developmental plans.

In his speech, the President noted that the people of Thulhaadhoo has always supported democracy and said that the people of the island had played a big role in the country’s efforts to establish democracy.
