President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih convened a meeting with President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday, extending his congratulations on Dr Muizzu's victory in the 2023 Presidential Election. The meeting took place at the President's Office in the afternoon, where President Solih also announced the formation of a special transitional committee to ensure a seamless transfer of government.

During the meeting, President Solih affirmed his respect for the people's decision in Saturday's vote. He assured President-elect Dr Muizzu that his administration is committed to facilitating a smooth and peaceful transition of government to the incoming administration in accordance with the Presidential Transition Act (Law No. 05/2010).

President Solih further stated that the special committee, tasked with ensuring the transition of power, would be led by Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office. He noted that Uz Ali Zahir, Chief of Staff of the President's Office, would supervise the committee's operations. Additionally, a team of technical staff from the President's Office would assist the President-elect's team throughout the process.

In his remarks, President-elect Dr Muizzu expressed gratitude to President Solih for acknowledging the election results and personally congratulating him on his win. He commended the orderly electoral process and assured his commitment, along with his team, to ensuring a peaceful and orderly transition of power.

The meeting was attended by Uz Ali Zahir, Chief of Staff of the President's Office, Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office, and Abdul Raheem Abdulla, President of the People's National Congress (PNC).
