President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih endorsed on Thursday the recommendations of the 'Gedhoruveriya Committee' on the future course of action for the 'Binveriya' housing scheme. The President made the decision in light of the cabinet's recommendations and a careful evaluation of a paper submitted by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The Gedhoruveringe Committee is tasked with assessing and finalising the list of individuals eligible for flats and lands under the administration's 'Binveriya' and 'Gedhoruveriya' housing schemes.

The Housing Ministry submitted the paper to the cabinet requesting approval for the Gedhoruveriya Committee's recommendations on proceeding with individuals eligible under the Binveriya housing scheme. Further information regarding the decision will be released by the Housing Ministry later.

The 'Binveriya' housing scheme is the largest housing initiative undertaken in the country. It has received 15,164 applications from 23,088 individuals. The scheme aligns with the administration's commitment to providing housing and securing a life of dignity for all citizens.
