At the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, H.E. Narendra Modi, H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday morning departed to India on a four-day official visit.
President Solih will visit New Delhi and meet with Indian Prime Minister H.E. Narendra Modi, Indian President H.E. Droupadi Murmu, and other senior officials of the government. Formal discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation will be held between the two governments, and a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) will also be exchanged. The President and Prime Minister will hold a joint press conference to discuss the outcomes of the two governments' talks.
In addition to meeting the leaders of the Indian government, the President will meet with executives from industries and businesses in New Delhi and Mumbai. In this regard, two business to business forums have been planned for each city.
The President is scheduled to meet with the Governor of Maharashtra and tour the Bombay Stock Exchange. He will also make a site visit to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust to meet with its management team and observe its operations.
The President will be accompanied by a Maldivian delegation of senior government officials and representatives from leading Maldivian businesses. The President will conclude his visit and return to the Maldives on August 4, 2022.
President Solih’s visit to India signifies the close bilateral relations between the two countries. India has been a vital partner in the socioeconomic development of the Maldives. A number of crucial infrastructural and community empowerment projects undertaken by this administration are currently underway with Indian assistance.
