President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred the National Award of Honour to 4 individuals and the National Award of Recognition to 14 individuals. The recipients were presented with the honours at the official ceremony held to mark National Day, tonight at Republic Square in Malé City.

The recipients of the National Award of Honour received commemorative shields and badges, while recipients of the National Award of Recognition received commemorative plaques from the President.

The National Awards Committee, constituted by the President to determine recipients for this prestigious award, selected the recipients. The National Award of Honour was presented to 4 individuals this year, one of which was awarded posthumously.

The 4 recipients who received the National Award of Honour are:

1. Al’Marhoom Ibrahim Hussain Fulhu - In the area of recitation, teaching and study of the Holy Quran
2. Hassan Labeeb - In the area of Dhivehi literature
3. Dr Hamid Rasheed - Contributions to the health sector
4. Malla Lhathuthu - Contributions to the field of sports

The 14 recipients who received the National Award of Recognition are:

1. Al-Hafiza Latheefa Ahmed - In the area of recitation, teaching and study of the Holy Quran in the field of teaching the Holy Quran
2. Abdulla Jameel - In the area of Dhivehi literature, in the field of teaching the Dhivehi language
3. Fathuhulla Ahmed - In the area of Dhivehi literature, in the field of promoting written Dhivehi
4. Sharaful Hudha Mohamed - In the area of Education, contributions in the field of teaching children and persons with disabilities
5. Ihavandhoo Masveringe Gulhun (Imagu) - In the area of social work, in the field of conducting programmes beneficial to the community
6. Mohamed Rashid - In the area of social work, in the field of working to eliminate harmful habits emerging in society
7. Yoosuf Riffath - In the area of Tourism, in the field of contributing to the advancement of the tourism sector through innovation and other activities
8. Fathimath Shifa Moosa Didi - In the area of arts and crafts, in the field of conducting and promoting arts and crafts
9. Dr Mohamed Kinaanath - In the area of information, communication and technology in the field of Computer Software, Software Application Development
10. Ibrahim Mohamed - In the area of Sports, in the  field of conducting and promoting sports
11. Ali Rasheed – In the area of Sports, in the field of conducting and promoting sports
12. Fathimath Saliya - In the area of Sports, in the field of conducting and promoting sports
13. Maimoona - In the area of Visual Arts; Fine Arts in the field of Writing, Drawing, Designing
14. Arushad Ashraf - In the area of Youth Development, for contributions in the field of youth development, charity work and promoting welfare activities
