Vice President Faisal Naseem on Wednesday met with the officials from Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) ahead of the upcoming holidays, to get the latest update on the current Covid situation. The meeting was held this morning at Dharubaaruge.

The Vice President was briefed on the most recent Covid-19 statistics in the country. He noted that hospitalisations had gone down significantly, which indicated that restrictive measures working; however, he stated that there was still room for operational improvements. The Vice President had also inquired about the quarantine and isolation facilities, and said that it should be adjusted according to the current situations.

At the meeting, the Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem had emphasised the importance of vaccination and increasing vaccination numbers. Officials from HEOC had informed the Vice President about the potential implications of the eased restrictions and reiterated that travelling between islands should be limited unless it is absolutely necessary.

The Vice President was joined by the Minister of Health, Health Ministry’s State Ministers Dr. Shah Abdul Mahir and Ahmed Adil, along with the senior officials of HEOC.
