President Nasheed has said that to achieve greater progress and prosperity, we need to broaden our minds. The President made this statement while speaking with the people of Alifushi.
In his speech, the President detailed on the work done to bring the democratic changes that we now see in the Maldives.
The President stressed that the government was determined to address the needs of the people. Further, President Nasheed said that he was not the kind of person who would make false promises to the people, and said that he would only speak of achievable things.
The President said that the voice of the people will be heard by this government and noted that the biggest obstacle to the development of the country was lack of respect for the right to freedom of expression.
In his speech, the President highlighted the development projects planned for Alifushi. Speaking in this regard, the President said the work of establishing a sewerage system as well as the construction of housing units in the island would begin this year.
During his visit to Alifushi, the President opened the new building of Alifushi Carpenters’ Association.
