President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has officially unveiled the ‘Library and Digital Archive’ of the Parliament. President Solih opened it following his Presidential Address at this year’s inaugural session of Parliament.
The library and digital archive are on the new 13-storey building located south of the Parliament building. A special monument was also unveiled at the ceremony, inscribed with President Solih’s name and the date of the inauguration. He was also presented with a commemorative plaque by Speaker of Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed.
The library and digital archive would maintain and preserve historical documents and make it easier for the public to access information, photos and videos relating to the Parliament. It comprise of over 6,680 texts, 1,529 videos, 2,133 books, and over 10,000 photographs.
