President Dissolves Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Responsibilities Shifted to Renamed Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

The President has today used the executive authority vested upon him by Article 115 of the Maldives’ Constitution to dissolve the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and effect an administrative reorganization of the Government.

Under these changes the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure will be renamed the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, and will take over the responsibilities of the dissolved Ministry. Staff previously employed at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will be transferred to the newly named Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
