President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today appointed Fathuhulla Jameel as the Commissioner General of Taxation, Asma Shafeeu as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation and Hussain Fiyaz Moosa to the post of Information Commissioner.

Fathuhulla Jameel holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Accounting from the Oxford Brookes University (Institute: Sunway University College, Malaysia), and is a member of the Fellow Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He earlier served as the Director-General – Audit and Investigation, and Director General – Revenue Services at Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). Before his new appointment, he served as the Manager – Tax, Risk and Compliance at Dhiraagu.

Asma Shafeeu holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the Oxford Brookes University (Institute: Nilai International University, Malaysia) and a Diploma in Accounting from the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT {UK}). Prior to her new appointment, she served as the Director-General – Planning and Development at MIRA. 

Hussain Fiyaz Moosa has served extensively in the media field and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Curtin University (Institute: Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia). He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Raajje TV, and Editor of Raajje.mv. Prior to his new appointment, Fiyaz served as the Founder and Managing Director of privately-owned marketing and media relations firm Komaakoalhi.

The President presented the three appointees with their Letters of Appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this afternoon. The appointments were made following approval from the Parliament.
