President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with members of the Women’s Development Committee of Addu City. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, members share with the President, their concerns regarding the challenges being faced in implementing the committee’s duties as mandated by the Decentralisation Act of the Maldives. Members also spoke on the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Women’s Development Committee, for the socio-economic progress of the female population of the city.

In this regard, committee members spoke extensively on the many activities planned by the committee to ensure total empowerment and welfare of women, and the obstacles faced in carrying out these activities.

President Solih reiterated the administration’s commitment to facilitate for the development of women and their empowerment. He also stated that the administration has a close eye on the various difficulties endured by women in all areas, and that the utmost effort will be put into resolving the issues.
