Vice President Faisal Naseem has congratulated the government of Bangladesh for the great strides being made to ensure a better quality of life for the people. He made these remarks while speaking at the reception held to mark the 48th anniversary of the Independence of Bangladesh.

In his speech, the Vice President expressed his confidence for the successful implementation of the policies envisioned in the Bangladesh Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 of the current leadership. He also expressed his confidence that Bangladesh will reach all of its development goals.

Speaking at the function, Vice President Naseem stated that the Maldives has always deeply valued the close relations shared with Bangladesh over many decades, which was founded on cultural commonalities, mutual respect, and close bilateral and international cooperation. He also expressed his gratitude for the immense contributions made by Bangladesh to the Maldives’ socio-economic development.

Highlighting that workers from Bangladesh constitute the largest community of expatriates in the Maldives, the Vice President said that much of the Maldives’ infrastructural progress and general economic growth is to be credited to the hard work and labour of the expatriate population.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem reassured of the administration’s commitment to resolving the numerous challenges being faced by Bangladeshi workers. He stated that the administration will do its utmost to expedite measures aimed at the protection of the rights of migrant workers and eliminating the menace of human trafficking.
