The Non-resident Ambassador of Morocco to the Maldives, His Excellency Mohamed Maliki presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.
At the ceremony, the President welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term.
After the presentation of credentials, the President and Ambassador discussed ways of further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and on exploring further areas of cooperation. The President noted that the Maldives and Morocco share common views on an array of issues of mutual interest. The President highlighted that small nations should have an equal standing in International Diplomacy and that as Muslim nations it was of mutual interest to contribute positively to the Islamic Ummah.
The Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude for receiving him as the Ambassador of Morocco to the Maldives, and expressed hope and confidence to continue working closely with the Maldives, and further consolidating the existing relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador also touched on ways to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the nations, in the areas of Tourism, Islamic Education and increased Scholarships.
The President was accompanied at the call by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, and the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, H.E. Mohamed Naseer and the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ahmed Sareer.
