President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the 25 storey addition to IGMH, when inaugurated, will provide fully equipped facilities. The President stated this while addressing the function held to inaugurate the National Uro-renal and Fertility Center, Non-invasive Ventilation Unit, Operation Theatre Complex, Intensive Care Unit and Total Laboratory Automation System in IGMH this evening.
President Yameen was accompanied at the function by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, Minister of Health, Hon. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Vice Chairperson at the governing board of IGMH, Dr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf.
During his speech, the President noted the value of the services being provided by nurses and other professionals working within the health sector and highlighted that guaranteeing accommodation facilities demonstrates the appreciation of their hard work.
While touching on the newly introduced IGMH logo, President Yameen remarked that it represented the special bond between the people serving at the hospital and those who visit to seek medical services, and expressed his hopes that the newly introduced facilities would enhance the quality of services provided to the people.
In his speech, the President also stated that a Pulmonary-respiratory department and kidney transplant services will be introduced by next year. At this point, the President highlighted that the people who are to provide technical services to the citizens should be well trained; that the Administration gives importance to train professionals in various sectors in order to provide better services to the public.
During the function, flats were presented to the nurses and doctors at IGMH by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Additionally, medical equipment provided by Ministry of Islamic Affairs was presented to the hospital by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Ziyad.
