The Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Mr A.K. Pandey has paid his farewell call on President Nasheed. The call was held this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, the President and the High Commissioner discussed the strong bilateral ties that exist between the Maldives and India.
The President thanked Mr A.K. Pandey for his efforts towards strengthening the relations between the Maldives and India during his tenure as High Commissioner. He also thanked the Indian government and its people for their support and cooperation rendered to the Maldives. The President highlighted the important role that India had played in the social and economic development of the Maldives and pointed out that India had always been amongst the first countries to extend assistance to the Maldives at hours of need.
Furthermore, the President exchanged views with the high Commissioner, on other possible areas of cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, the President said his government gave high priority in enhancing trade ties with Indian industries as well as facilitating bilateral interactions between the peoples of the two countries.
Mr Pandey said it was privilege for him to have held an opportunity to serve in the Maldives as the High Commissioner. Further, he said that he had received a very high degree of cooperation from all government departments as well as from the people of the Maldives. The High Commissioner also wished the government and the people of the Maldives further success and prosperity.
