President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that parents expect their children to become a more wholesome person after they complete their studies. The President stated this while speaking at the Top Achievers Awards 2015, the ceremony recognizing the top achievers of 2015 in the Higher Secondary Examinations.

The President stated that many would have high expectations of the top achievers.

He stated that currently, there are obstacles for the students to identify their goals and ambitions; and that it is crucial for them to realize their aptitude towards a particular goal. Additionally, he stated that when taking decisions related to their future, their inner intuition will guide them to the right path — the President stated that it was important for them to find out which career their aptitude, inclination, interest and enthusiasm leads to by consulting their coaches and counsellors.

Speaking at the function, he stated that graduates who complete their Secondary Education are no longer kids; that now they are at the right age to be aware of real world implocations, their responsibilities to help others and to serve the nation.

In addition, the President stated that when they complete their Higher Secondary Education, they become capable thinkers — about the current transformations taking placs within the country and to act based on their own judgement.

At the function held this evening, President Yameen awarded the Presidential scholarship and special trophy to the recipients.

The President was accompanied at the function by Minister of Education; Dr. Aishath Shiham, Members of the Cabinet, Officials of the Government and Education sector.
