President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the Administration takes pride in delivering solutions to challenges faced by citizens all over the Maldives. He made the remark on Monday evening, at Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani School, while speaking during the ceremony held to officially inaugurate the sewerage system in Haddhummathi Gan.
The President noted that, a clean water facility will be introduced in Gan Island shortly and that before the end of his current term, fifty Islands will be provided with clean water and proper sewerage facilities. He also highlighted that this administration has ensured 24 hour electricity to all the inhabited Islands of Maldives.
In his speech, President Yameen questioned the practice by previous Administrations on undertaking loans, which led to a budget deficit, as we cannot see an end result of any projects undertaken from those loans.
Speaking in this regard, the President said that the political quarrel between opposition parties will not resolve any disputes nor do any good to this country. He also called on all to stop spreading misinformation regarding the country whereby adversely affecting the image of Maldives and making it all the more difficult to get support from international partners.
During the ceremony the President was awarded a plaque of appreciation by the people of Haddhummathi Gan. Apart from the President, Minister of Environment and Energy; Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of State for Home Affairs; Yoosuf Abdul Gafoor and the non-resident Ambassador of France to the Maldives, Mr. Jean-Marin Schuh addressed the attendees of the event.
The President was accompanied at the ceremony by Minister of Environment and Energy; Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure; Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Islamic Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Ziyad, Minister of Tourism; Hon.
