President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law. The President stated this while commemorating the conclusion of the land reclamation in South Nilandhe Atoll Meedhoo.
The President stated that the Administration aims to provide the primary services required for the citizens within the shortest period of time and said that the key importance of the Administration is to provide housing; especially at a feasible rate for the youth.
With the completion of the land reclamation project in Meedhoo, the space on the island has increased three fold, which will allow space to build a futsal stadium, bashi court and sports center for the entertainment of youth, stated the President. Additionally, the President stated that work to resolve issues related to sewerage can now commence.
The President further said that as each person is due certain entitlements, as a person and a citizen, the Administration focused on fulfilling these primary needs within the boundaries of the law.
In addition, the President stated that the Administration, as the Executive, are accepting of democratic values, much like that of the previous Administrations were accepting of the same democratic principles; those committing criminal acts would be deterred by punishing them accordingly he said.
At the function, the President was awarded a special plaque of appreciation on behalf of the people of Meedhoo – the head of Meedhoo Council, Mr. Ahmed Aslam presented the plaque.
