President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the main goal of this administration is to provide clean water and sewerage systems to at least 50 islands during this tenure. The President stated this while addressing the opening ceremony of “Ghaazee Bandaarain” harbor in North Thiladhummathi Utheemu.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President stated that the administration is trying to resolve various problems faced by the citizens. Hence, after the harbor in Utheemu is inaugurated, such difficulties around the harbor will be resolved, stated the President. He also stated that because Utheemu has many historical monuments plans are being formulated to build a guest house in Utheemu to attract more tourists to the island.

At the function the President further stated that since the times of our forefathers it has been noted that a Maldivian has always contributed to the conspiracies against Maldives. He stated that even now some Maldivians are trying to defame the goodwill towards Maldives by spreading rumors that Maldives is an extremist country. The President stated that these people are encouraging foreign agencies to interfere in our domestic issues and that these people are not well-wishers of the nation.

If there is a case of corruption even in this governance, the case will be explored in a fair way he said. He also stated that if there is a large amount of money missing from state funds, it is the responsibility of the state to find out how the money was spent and where the money is.

Further, the President stated that as Maldivians desire a harmonious and peaceful society, this administration is working to provide such an environment to the people. He also said that this administration wants to encourage good governance that respects the people of the nation; hence the administration is working towards that.

At the ceremony, the President was awarded with a special honorary plaque by citizens of Utheemu. The honorary plaque was presented to the President by the head of Utheemu Council, Mr. Asraar Adam.

The President was accompanied at the function by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muiz, and Parliament Member of Vilimaale constituency Mr. Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik.
