President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that his Administration is currently working on developing and building the nation. The President made this remark while speaking at the ceremony held today, to inaugurate clean drinking water services in North Ari Atoll Ukulhas.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President noted that his Administration is currently focused on providing the basic necessities and increasing wealth among the people of Maldives. The President highlighted the efforts in building the economy, shore protection, provision of clean drinking water and provision of suitable sewerage systems.
Continuing in this regard, President Yameen pointed out that the development projects carried out in the islands were not only funded by the State but with the aid of international partners. Further, the President pointed out that when a community is more willing and accepting it was easier for the state to implement developmental projects.
During the ceremony the President shed light on the issue of Maldives being on CMAG watch. He said that the Commonwealth would state their opinion sometime today. President Yameen emphasized the challenges Maldives will have to face if the country is put under watch and advised those calling for negative attention from the international community, to think about the greater good of the country and its people before undertaking destructive actions.
