President Mohamed Nasheed has reiterated the government’s commitment to accomplish the projects it has set out for the development of the Maldives.

The President gave the assurance in his remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 350 housing units to be built in Male’ under the government’s housing project to provide affordable housing. These 350 housing units will be built by Kargwal 18 SG Developers of India.

President Nasheed said the government would fulfil its election pledges despite the numerous hurdles the government was faced with.

Referring to the government’s promise to provide affordable housing for all Maldivians, he gave the confidence of providing adequate and affordable housing for all.

He said this government was elected on the promise of providing affordable housing for Maldivians. He reiterated the government’s belief that the development of the Maldives depended on the quality housing in the Maldives.

President Nasheed added that housing was the most important institution for human development.

Speaking on the significance of housing in the national development, he stressed the importance of improving the quality of housing in the Maldives in solving social as well as economic problems the Maldives faced.

The government has pledged to build 10,000 housing units in the country under the government’s pledge to provide affordable housing.
