President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim have attended the opening ceremony of the new children’s park Raaveribey Maizaan. The park was developed by the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Maldives Association of Construction Industry, at the Southwest harbor area of Male’.
The park was officially opened with the cutting of a special cake by children who attended the event. The President and First Lady then toured the park, and met with the children and members of the general public who attended the opening ceremony. Today’s event was Madam Fathimath Ibrahim’s first public appearance since the Presidential launch explosion on 28th of September 2015.
The Raaveribey Maizaan was an initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Environment, to provide a recreational area for children and people of all ages, and to make maximum use of the vacant land plot at the Southwest harbour area. The park was designed in a way that would add to the greenery of the harbour area, and facilitate parking.
