President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conferred the Golden Jubilee Shield of Honour by the State, to Late Former President Ibrahim Nasir, and Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The Shields of Honour were conferred at the official function held on Sunday evening, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of National Independence.
Late Former President Ibrahim Nasir was conferred the Golden Jubilee Shield of Honour by the State, in memory of his outstanding national service, in securing full independence from British Protectorate status for the Maldives, on the 26th of July 1965.
Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was conferred the Golden Jubilee Shield of Honour by the State, for his outstanding national service in protecting, defending and consolidating the full independence of the Maldives, during the past 50 years.
