President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the Maldives looks at foreign investments as part and parcel of our economic development, and welcomes foreign investors as partners in our developmental work. The President made this remark while speaking at the function held to introduce corporate residency for foreign investors in the Maldives.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen underscored the high priority Maldives attached to foreign investment, despite the reluctance it has held in the past. Highlighting the legislative work done over the years on the matter, President Yameen stated that only legislative reform was not enough to attract investors to the Maldives from all over the world.
In his speech, the President said that the Maldives has its doors open to all foreign investors, as our ambitious programme to transform the Maldivian economy called for more investments into the Maldives. The President further assured that his administration would accord the best hospitality, safety and satisfaction to all foreign investors who came to the Maldives.
President Yameen further welcomed all foreign investors to “be Maldivians among Maldivians”, and belong to the privileged, elitist club of Corporate Resident Maldives.
