The Ambassador of Denmark accredited to the Maldives, His Excellency Freddy Svane has today paid his farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, President Yameen expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Svane for the cooperation and close friendship with the Maldives during his tenure.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Denmark, as well as on ways of further enhancing cooperation between both countries at an international level. The President and the Danish Ambassador also highlighted on the active role played by the Maldives in global climate change debates.
Ambassador Svane said that it was a great pleasure to serve the Maldives as his country’s Ambassador to the Maldives. Further, Ambassador Svane reassured of Denmark’s continuous support and assistance to the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Fathimath Inaya .
