Ambassador of France accredited to the Maldives, Mr. Jean-Paul Monchau ‎has today paid his farewell call on ‎President Abdulla Yameen Abdul ‎Gayoom.‎

At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, ‎President Yameen ‎expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Monchau for the ‎cooperation and ‎close friendship with ‎the Maldives during his tenure. The ‎President also ‎conveyed his hopes to further ‎strengthen the close mutual ‎relations the two ‎countries held.‎

Highlighting the similarities between the Maldives and France, President ‎Yameen and Ambassador Monchau exchanged ideas on areas of mutual ‎concern, such as the global fight against climate change, and efforts to combat ‎terrorism.‎

Ambassador Monchau said that it was a great pleasure to serve ‎the Maldives ‎as ‎his country’s Ambassador to the Maldives. Further, Ambassador ‎Monchau reassured of France’s continuous support and assistance to the ‎Maldives.‎

The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya ‎Maumoon, and Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.‎
